Come on in and learn all about cold process soap! It’s fun, so much better for your skin, and so rewarding to create, too!

Hello friends!

I hope you are having an amazing week! I thought I’d pop in and share something near and dear to me. If you follow along with me on Facebook or Instagram (YouTube or TikTok, the latter, which I haven’t done much with yet), you might have seen it.

Definitely a passion of mine. My very first online business venture. And then a few short years after that, the blog came to be, and I shared another passion, creating beautiful things out of old forgotten pieces, painting, decorating, and DIY.

Once a creative, always a creative, right?! ha!

Soapmaking (and other things, like essential oils and fragrances) has been a passion of mine all these years. I love creating all-natural fragrance blends and have done many over the years. I’m always “playing” and blending yummy smelling things. Maybe not sharing everything I do behind the scenes here, but trust me, I’m always mixing or making something! lol

Here is my recent Instagram post that might tell a bit more:

I have shared some of it here over the years:

One of my most popular posts to this day, Whipped Body Butter:

Two glass jars filled with creamy whipped body butter are in the foreground, with chunks of raw butters, amber bottles, and grated ingredients on a plate behind—perfect for your next whipped body butter recipe.

You can see it here: Easy Whipped Body Butter Recipe

Things like Salt Scrubs (and Sugar Scrubs):

A glass jar filled with a light brown, speckled salt scrub sits open with its metal lid beside it. Labeled Citrus & Poppyseed Salt Scrub, this makes for refreshing and thoughtful gift ideas for any occasion.

You can see more here: Simple DIY Salt Scrub Recipes

Or home fragrance:

Amber and blue glass dropper bottles, dried orange slices, cinnamon sticks, vanilla beans, lavender sprigs, and peppercorns are arranged on a white surface. Overlaid text reads: Scent your home naturally—recipes and tips!.

Read more about it here: Healthy Ways To Scent Your Home Naturally

And of course, Cold Process Soapmaking, where it all started:

A collage features Soap Making supplies and steps: gloves, oils, bottles, a scale, cut soap, a thermometer, measuring, mixing, molds with soap, and toppings. Center text reads Natural Soap Making Supplies & Steps.

And for funsies, I took a look at the “Wayback Machine” and pulled up some pages from my old website, circa 2000! Yikes, haha!!
But what can I say? I created that site with Microsoft FrontPage, staged and took all my own photos (and wasn’t as proficient as I am now in photography), and created all my own labels/packaging (plus I hand-drew my logo, the cutie “chef” (me) holding a tray of candles and a tray of soap. But gosh, does some of that look elementary at this point! lol

I even applied for and obtained the trademark myself. Not a clue what I was doing with that, but somehow managed to accomplish it. I was a lot younger, so I’m sure that had a lot to do with it!! haha! So, I am proud of my first online venture. It taught me a lot, and it’s really what led me to where I am today with this blog.
By the way, I did abandon the trademark once I closed that business (2007), so someone (well, multiple people over the years) snatched it right up…I’m not affiliated with any of them in any way.

Screenshot of a webpage section titled Our Products, listing items like soy candles, body mist, perfume sprays, home fragrance spray, cold process soap, and accessories, with vibrant product images displayed on the right.

And the soaps page:

Fun looking back, though!! And wild that I can pull old pages from my old site up from so many years ago.

So with all of that, yes, I will be listing some items in my shop. Soaps, body creams (I’ll share those later), home fragrance, and even laundry soap (I’ll be sharing that soon, too!). Maybe even some of my perfume blends. They are quite complex, with multiple components, so we will see!

But first, let’s make soap! Watch the video below:

Here’s a sneak peek of the soap…

Seven handcrafted cold process soaps are displayed on a wooden surface with greenery, woven baskets, and bath accessories in the background. Each soap features a unique label and colorful design, highlighting the artistry of cold process soap making.

I created the labels and printed them on vellum paper so the pretty soaps would show through somewhat. I’ll offer many more varieties of soap, and more to come, of course.

I really love homemade soap. So does my husband. We both agree our hands are in SO much better shape when using hand soap (instead of store-bought liquid, etc.) for everyday handwashing. When I don’t have my soap made and on hand, we use the other, and both of our hands get so dry. With my soap, it makes such a huge difference. I am a fan, obviously! But I know the benefits firsthand.

Over the years, I’ve only used my soaps for face washing (just the regular soaps I make) and nothing else. I actually created one recently, specifically for facial washing with gentle, skin-loving oils like Rosehip oil, for example. I’ll share more once I decide on a final formula. I’ve still got some testing to do.

My laundry soaps…

Five bags of handcrafted cold process soap with colorful labels stand on a wooden surface, surrounded by towels, a basket, a plant, and a framed sign that reads “Fresh and Clean.” Perfect for those who appreciate the art of cold process soap making.

I’m starting with 7 varieties of laundry soap. (6 are pictured) But I’ve been using this laundry soap for a while now and love it!

Anyway, it seems I’m getting back to my roots. Adding back in some things I love. Not taking away from what I do here on the blog, just a sweet, new addition. I’ll still be making over furniture, decorating, thrift-store finds, and more. But I wanted to share this with you all, too.

I’ll have these up in the shop (possibly Etsy, too) soon!

Have a wonderful weekend!! I’ll be back next week with my friends and our “Trashy Treasures”. I’ve got an adorable one for you. Can’t wait to share what I did with it!

xoxo

The word Nancy is written in elegant, flowing black script, reminiscent of Chalk Style Paint For Furniture, with a heart shape used to form the dot above the letter i. The background is plain white.

  1. I’m excited for you and those soaps look so nice. I use the bottle at the bath sink but love bar soap for the times I take a bath. Let us know when they are for sale! Have a very Happy Mother’s Day.

    1. Thank you, Debra!! Oh, I will, for sure. I hope you will love them as much as we do! Thank you, sweet friend, you as well!! xoxo
